Which service do I need?

If the door worked yesterday and doesn’t today, start with repairs. A door that suddenly feels like it weighs a ton is nearly always a spring; one that came down crooked has usually thrown a cable; one that hums and reverses may be the opener or its safety sensors. We fix doors and openers we didn’t install, too.

If the door is old, beaten or simply wrong for the house, look at new doors. That includes the low, heavy one-piece doors in older garages, which we convert by building the opening down to a standard size so a sectional door and opener fit under the ceiling.

And if you’re building, the custom pages are where the choices are: Carriage House wood doors, glass in any panel you like, solid doors for privacy and insulation, and hardware from about $30 to more than $600 a door.

Questions that cover more than one service

Do you repair gate openers as well as garage doors?

Yes. Alongside garage doors and their openers, we repair gate openers on both sliding and swinging gates. Tell us the make of the opener and what the gate is doing — stopping halfway, not responding to the remote, reversing — when you call (615) 810-6415.

What should I do when my garage door won’t open and the car is inside?

Leave the door alone and call. A door that won’t lift usually has a broken spring or a cable off its drum, and forcing it with the opener can bend the bottom panel or burn the motor out — which is how a frozen door in the February 2021 ice storm became a two-part repair.

How do I know whether to repair my garage door or replace it?

Start with what failed. Springs, cables, rollers, seals and openers are repairs; one bent panel is usually a repair too. Replacement makes sense when several panels are damaged, when a matching panel can’t be found for an older door, or when you want a different door on the house.

Can I see a garage door before I order it?

For wood doors we bring samples, including a cut showing the insulation engineered inside, so you can see the wood and the finish in your own light. For glass and hardware, the manufacturers’ design tools show the options on a picture of a door, and we can source vintage trim looks those tools don’t carry.
