How did Kingdom Doors begin?
It began with a schedule problem. In 2008, in the middle of the biggest housing crisis in recent memory, Chad’s wife was in the hospital with an aggressive spinal tumor and their three sons were still young. A job working for someone else couldn’t bend around that, so Chad started his own company in Franklin and set his own hours.
He wasn’t new to the work. Chad had started in 1994 as a subdivision installer in Pensacola, Florida. In 1999 he moved to Middle Tennessee and spent the next nine years as lead commercial installer and service manager for local garage door companies.
When did Clay take over?
In 2020. The pandemic changed plans for everyone that year, and Chad asked his son to come help with the business. Clay had grown up around doors, helping his father as a kid, and he stayed. He’s run the company day to day ever since, with Chad still guiding the growth. Kingdom Doors LLC was incorporated in Tennessee that April.
In the family’s own words, having Clay in the business “still to this day has been a huge blessing,” and the work itself is something more than a job:
It truly is a calling of its own for Chad, his family and the customers he serves.

The jobs Clay likes best are still the ones where he and his father work side by side.
